White on White

I’m getting the itch (again) to change up our living room. “Hi, my name is Laura and I’m addicted to redecorating”.

When I moved into this house 7 years ago, the walls in the living room were painted white. At the time, I really hated white. I was more into bohemian and earth tones so I painted the walls an earthy terra cotta color. We lived with it for a few years and then I decided to paint it a warm beige, so right now it looks very similar to this:

And it’s not bad at all, but I feel very limited by the color. The more rooms I see with white walls on Pinterest, the more I really love how it makes everything in the room really pop. Here are some of my favorites:

So what do you think? Do you like white or are you over it?

  1. I’m not a fan of white walls either (mine are currently light gray), but I do love what I see on Pinterest! Like you said, they make everything else pop!

  2. Love white on white! We renovated our modern cottage home over the last 2 years. We did white walls throughout the entire house with bright white trim. I LOVE it & not sure I will ever go back to color! I am itching to add some wood slats sometime to add more character. But, I’m all in when it comes to white! Our last house had color in every room except for the last room completed where I did white & it was always my favorite space in the house. Good luck! Can’t wait to see!

  3. I just can’t do a white room. I actually like the color of your walls as they are. :)

  4. I LOVE all white! I’m hoping to paint my walls again this year – they need it so badly. and I’m going whiter than the last time – less warm cream and more cool grey-white.

  5. My favorite “white” is Farrow & Ball’s Cornforth White, I just love it and never get tired of it :)

  6. So gorgeous. Thanks for sharing!

  7. I like the colour combo in the first pick and have a similar colour in part of our home. But I also have white rooms (basement guest bedroom, hobby room, and living room.) I love the white rooms. I plan to add more white to walls soon.

  8. Cindy K says:

White Absolutely! There are so many lovely shades of white to layer, and it makes changing things around for the seasons, holidays or just simply because (is there a better reason?) so easy.
