I have a furniture transformation for you! I haven’t shared one in quite a long time, and I am very excited about this one because I absolutely love her color.

I picked her up in the dark of the night and within 2 days of bringing her home, I gave her a whole new look. Now let’s be honest here: she wasn’t too bad to begin with:

June 2014 Buffet

I had a lot of ideas running through my head about what her new look should be and after some debate, decided on the perfect look: scarlet red.

June 2014 Buffet After

I think it suits her perfectly, don’t you agree?

She already had beautiful tear drop pulls on the bottom drawer so there was certainly no need to change out those beauties. The rest of the piece was missing knobs altogether, so I added very large black and white pulls (pictures of them coming soon). She is painted entirely in Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint with a blend of 3 parts Tricycle to 1 part Typewriter. I am very pleased with the color. I’ll definitely be adding this one to my recipe file.

First thing I noticed was the hardware on her. I think the color would need some adjusting to for me but it is pretty, almost a neutral. I don’t like to say I don’t like a color anymore since I’ve been on blog land I’ve been educated to many different ideas and colors, good for old person. I have noticed I let myself get used to the idea of different things and learn to admire them.
Love that old sideboard or buffet. Lucky you finding her. I’d so love to find an old buffet like her to fix up for our kitchen.
We recently painted our living room, I made new art with things I’d had. We have chair I bought at Habitat but didn’t like upholstery at all. Since I’m a chicken to make a slip cover I got out some of my faded vintage table cloths of which I have several. Decided to use one for each section of chair and stapled/tucked them in chair. I love how it looks and if I get tired of it I can change it. Hubs didn’t like idea of two different cloths on each arm but told him it’s shabby chic/beachy/cottage and he’d get used to it. Daughter and her girls loved it. When I first told daughter what I’d done she didn’t think she’d like it. She’s not much on different ideas of decorating. Glad you shared this piece with us all. Happy days

I think the details on this baby are gorgeous!
On my monitor, this resolves to a burgundy color. It’s very dignified. :)
    Really nice work.

  3. She is fabulous. Loving the color and the hardware!
