Entryway

I’ve been itching to redo our entryway for quite a while now.  In fact, do some of you remember the rush seat bench I bought last year at the Holiday Market?

I bought it with the intention of taking out the closet door, creating a little nook of some kind and setting the bench inside.  Buuut . . . I’ve changed my mind.  I am a woman, you know?  I sold the bench yesterday on Craigslist.  It’s been sitting in our entryway like you see in this photo since I brought it home and I’ve been inspired to go about the entryway makeover entirely differently.

I’d like to take the basic concept of the gorgeous closet makeover done by The House of Smiths:

by building into the closet and creating a built-in seating area just like you see in the photo above, instead of using the rush seat bench we had, and then . . .

decorating our entryway with white farmhouse goodness similar to the way the Secret Garden Cottage decorated theirs:

and maybe throw in a “Family” sign and some wooden crates inspired by My Sweet Savannah:

and I love the photographs and chalkboard at The Yellow Cape Cod:

Now that the bench is gone, I can’t wait to get started!!

What are you working on?  Got any exciting home projects going on?  Tell me all about them!  I wanna hear!

Thank you for reading!

XOXO
Laura

  1. Oh! This space is going to be amazing! So cozy and pretty, yet practical too. Looking forward to the finished pictures!

  2. My husband and I are closing on our first house in early November (YAY!) and all I can think about is doing some sort of built-in for the entryway! The house has no coat closet (it’s old) so I’d like to build something just like the first picture, but against the wall. I love all 3 of these pictures!

  3. Our project right now isn’t glamorous or pretty but it IS pretty exciting! Our furnace installation should start in about 10 days! Hubby is working hard to get the floor ready to pour concrete and then we are good to go! So excited. And even more exciting – once this is finished – I’m oh so hopeful we can move on to a couple projects that WILL be a tad more glamorous and pretty!

  4. It will be wonderful!!!

  5. Now see, I am torn. I am loving the rush bench, but am loving the closet idea too. I have a bi-level home. I wish I could build something like that on the landing, but there is a baseboard heater there. Errr. AND, my coat closet does not have a flat floor- it is slanted!!!! No projects here. Need to do outdoor projects but there is a HUGE black and green orb spider out there. Nope. Not going out…

Thank you for all of your great ideas to get us thinkin’!

    Blessings!
    Heather
