Dining Room Reveal

The dining room is finished.  Done.  Finalized.  Complete.  I finally finished the cafe curtains for the window wall last weekend (in the nick of time) so I thought I’d share a few photos with you of the finished room.  (And please check out the other half of this room: OUR KITCHEN!)
But first . . .
Let’s take a peek at how the dining room used to look, shall we?  We must not forget just how far this room has come:
And here is the dining room today:
Ta da!  I think it looks a little different, wouldn’t you agree?

The material for the cafe curtains is simply muslin, believe it or not.  I picked it up at Hobby Lobby for $2.99/yard.

I made a few changes to the buffet wall since the Open Shelves post back in March.  I added an antique cutting board to the top shelf, added an ironstone gravy boat, hung three antique ironstone dishes on the wall underneath the bottom shelf, added the milk tote which holds antique silverware and I, unfortunately, had to toss the myrtle topiaries just yesterday.  Bummer!  They lasted almost 4 months, but I just couldn’t save them anymore.  Instead, I cut fresh hydrangea from our yard and placed them in large blue Ball jars.  I’ll keep these jars here throughout the summer and change out the flowers.

Yes, there’s a computer there on that pantry wall.  This is where I blog once in a while.  I am SO ready for a built-in desk here.  Ahh, some day.

The giant fork and spoon flanking either side of our window wall were purchased from Decor Steals a couple of months ago and I absolutely love them.  And the cake stand in the lower right-hand corner of this picture usually has some sort of yummy baked good inside.  I like sweets.  What can I say?

Hence the chalkboard sign hanging from the top of it with an appropriate saying:

We love the mix of the antique ladderback chairs with our farmhouse chairs and how the entire look is brought together by our awesome recycled Farmhouse Table that now seats 8 (hallelujah!).

As you can probably tell from these photos, I am a minimalist.  It actually does look like this most of the time.  Clutter makes me cringe.  I am a “everything has a place and everything in its place” kind of person.  But just don’t open my cupboards, m-kay?

So there you have it.  Whatcha think?

Thank you for reading!

XOXO
Laura

  50. Hi Linda – thank you for the compliments! We love this room! The chandelier was actually purchased off of Craigslist about 3 years ago so I’m sorry that I can’t tell you where it came from :-( It’s just a plain, black, six arm, wrought iron chandelier and I took the lampshades off because I like the exposed light better. Good luck in your search and thank you so much for stopping by! XO Laura
