What I Did for Mother’s Day

I hope all of you mothers out there had a fantastic day yesterday.  I hope you put your feet up and allowed your family to pamper you.  You certainly deserve it!

When the hubby asked what I wanted, I asked for time to finish a project.  Oh yeah, I wanted to spend the entire day painting.  Painting what?  Painting our pantry wall in the kitchen.  FINALLY!

I revealed the wall back in December when I was getting ready to host a Christmas cookie exchange in our home.  Here’s a “Before” shot of the espresso brown pantry wall as it had been for a few years:

Here’s a “Before Before” shot of the not-so-attractive paneled pantry wall as it looked when I moved in:
And here is how it looks today:
All white and dreamy.

I was finally able to bring up the shutters that I bought last April for our then “soon-to-be” built-in desk (that still isn’t built) when I went on a successful Treasure Hunting trip one day.  They’ve been sitting in the basement ever since.

It was a great Mother’s Day gift to myself to finally be able to get this project done.  Now we’ll see how long it takes us to get the desk built?  Any guesses?

Thank you for reading!

XOXO
Laura

  3. They look amazing white, like brandnew cabinets! I love the shutters too!

  4. Looks great! I asked for project time, too! Teaching myself to slipcover, and I have been surprisingly successful! Don’t you love it when a project turns out the way you want? Great shutters!

  6. Hi Laura! I’ve just added myself as a new follower…you have a lovely blog. Your kitchen looks gorgeous and those shutters are just so sweet. I know what you mean about finally getting things painted after a long while…I have a lot of that going on at my house too! Have a great day.

p.s. I wouldn’t mind at all if you wanted to stop by my blog and say hi :)

  7. Very pretty. I dream of white walls…but will not paint them till we must!
It was also pretty in the deep brown, but I can see how the white changeover will be FUN to accessorize!
“Time to complete a project” actually needs to go on my “wish list” for upcoming holidays!
    :)

  8. Every time I see someone’s blah cabinets updated with beautiful white creaminess, it gets me one step closer to pulling the trigger on doing that in our kitchen. Yours looks great!
