Spring Door Decor of a Different Kind

Some of you may recall for Spring last year I created a Moss Wreath for our front door.  I really loved it and it stayed up on our door for months until the moss began to turn brown.  Then it wasn’t so pretty anymore!

I also created a fabric covered wreath for Fall and loved that one as well.  But when I began thinking about what to do for Spring this year, I wanted to create something different.  I wanted to create unexpected door decor utilizing items I already have at home.  I designed it in my head first and then I wondered if it would look as good in reality as it did in my head.  Well, why don’t you tell me:
Using this lovely fabric I have in my fabric stash:
I cut out strips of it in various lengths and made little rosettes using the same technique I described in my Fall Wreath Tutorial.  I then attached the fabric flowers with hot glue to the $2.99 frame I picked up at Target.

I used a green door sign which is actually meant for Christmas, turned it upside down and then added two little galvanized buckets.  I kept the buckets in place by using Scotch brand Removable Adhesive squares so they wouldn’t slip.  I also used adhesive squares to hold the picture frame in place against the buckets.

I wrapped two strips of white grosgrain ribbon around the sign bringing them up to tie them around the door hook.  Again, I used more adhesive squares to hold the ribbon in place across the bottom of the wood.  You can see the ribbon along the bottom of the wood sign in this photo:
The hubby bought these beautiful tulips for me (everybody say “awwwww”), so I added them to each bucket and held them in place with burlap, which also adds nice texture!

I then cut out another strip of the gorgeous pink rose fabric and made a floppy bow around the hook to bring the entire look together!

I hope this project has inspired you to think outside of the box when it comes to creating something unique for your home!  Wreaths are definitely perfect for all occasions, but why not do something completely unexpected?
