Stop and Smell the Roses

Or the geraniums!

Somehow in the midst of all the barn sale chaos, we’ve managed to plant our annuals around the house.  I LOVE Martha Washington geraniums, but I don’t love their price.  I only splurged on two of those beauties and then added two pink geraniums to the pot.  We also planted our garden (summer squash, zucchini, green onions, blueberries and strawberries) which is not pictured here because you’d just be looking at a box filled with dirt, and that’s just boring.

Pay no attention to the lovely burnt grass in the photograph.  It’s just an illusion.

Next to the geraniums are the herbs (spearmint, parsley, thyme, oregano and cilantro), which my mom bought me for Mother’s Day.  Awww shucks!  Thanks Mom.

I love the idea of herbs and we plant them every year, but we don’t always use them.  What a shame!  But they look so nice, don’t they?

Then there’s the little blue, rusty can

which I bought at a flea market a couple of weeks ago.  Isn’t it precious?  The vendor had some amazing stuff.  She even had succulents and annuals planted in vintage typewriters.  So stinkin’ cool!  All I could afford was this little blue pot, but I don’t care.  I wasn’t about to pass it up.  I had to have it because of the little garden sign in it:
