A Picture a Day for Seven Days – Day #6

Pink, pink and more pink.  When it was time to move bedrooms around, I wanted to create another bedroom that had a little girl feel, but with sophistication.  This room was originally our guest bedroom and it was decorated in a shabby chic inspired, bed & breakfast style.  Or at least that’s what I called it.  White on the walls, white furniture and of course, crisp white bed linens.  I wanted to use the same white furniture that we had in our guest room as I created this new space.

Here is a small corner of the completed bedroom for you to see:

I found the dresser on Craigslist (of course!).  It was originally off white with gold trim, but I took some flat white paint to it (dry brush technique) and only painted one coat so the pattern of the brush strokes is revealed.  I didn’t want it to be perfect.  The mirror above it was gold and originally hung above our guest bed.  I purchased that beauty at a favorite flea market in Detroit (man, do I miss that flea market!).  The lady I bought it from found it in an attic in an old home in Indian Village.  I was so glad she found it!  Again, I took my flat white paint to it and dry brushed it so the antique gold is slightly revealed underneath.  I like the result.  What do you think?

There’s also a story that goes with the lamp on that dresser, as well, but that will be revealed another day.  Hint: there are some people in life that you are meant to be connected to!!
